Happy Valentine's--I mean, Single Awareness Day!

No matter how you slice it, it's not necessarily the most comforting day for any single Mormon gal.  Yes, I just called myself a gal--that's what I get for living in a town full of retirees.  (Love you, Grandma!!)  However,  I've got a half dozen friends of the cakebite variety waiting to keep me company, so I think I'll survive.  I remember the good old days when Valentine's Day meant cute little cards and lots of candy.  In fact, I believe that somewhere in my box of treasures I've got a few saved, like one "TaleSpin" valentine from Kyle in the 3rd grade (awww...).  My sister Jenny probably got the same exact card, but it didn't matter--it was from KYLE.  And it still makes me smile.  Though I'm starting a blog to celebrate my life as a single woman, this is definitely a difficult time of the year to remind myself to celebrate.  Yes, I'm a bit nauseated by (read: jealous of) the couples with their profile pics, plans and parties, and public displays of affection, but there's no need to despair!!  I know of a few other single ladies who'll be watching rom coms, eating chocolate, and ragging on men, and they'll have a GREAT time doing it.  So that's where I'll be.  Cakebites, I'm not breaking our date--I'm just postponing it!  And I am not sharing, so you know what that means: secret eating...in my room...while watching "Gilmore Girls".  Happy Valentine's Day to me!
